The Vegas Test: Impact Wrench
Tool manufacturers gotta be pretty confident in their new tools to put them up for micro-analysis by our four Top Tool Testers. Recall that the fearsome four (three guys and a gal) won a free trip to the 2011 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas to do some big-time tool testing in the Product Test Shop.
The Top Tool Testers start today and will scrutinize tool after tool through Thursday. One of the first subjects up for exam will be the Ryobi 18-v ONE+ 1/2-in. Cordless Impact Wrench, which is designed for automotive and mechanics projects — even deck building.
The impacting mechanism produces 200 ft.-lbs of torque and 0 to 3000 impacts per minute to easily drive long screws or lag bolts. An LED light boosts visibility as you pull the trigger. The impact wrench works with all Ryobi 18-v batteries and comes with a socket extender for hard-to-reach areas.
